New HP Project and Portfolio Management 9.30 - It’s a Whole New Ballgame

Posted By Richard Hawes, Thursday, September 25, 2014

HP Project and Portfolio Management Center has gone through many innovations over its 20-year lifespan and the latest release includes some of the biggest changes we have seen recently. After major revisions to the web and mobile interfaces in prior releases, v9.30 comes with a new Workplan view, new project cost view and project prediction/optimization, new Staffing profile, and new resource assignment and optimization features. Also in this release the integration to agile development systems goes wide open with a toolkit to exchange data with any agile system (in addition to what we’ve done before with HP Agile Manager) – now you can include agile projects tracking as part of your central portfolio. We even provide a sample integration with Rally.

Perhaps the biggest news in this release is ‘Bring your own BI’ – the latest addition to our comprehensive reporting capabilities. Now it is easier than ever to report in exactly the way you need. Our regular dashboard components provide real-time data for operational users and support the inclusion of external dashboard components such as HP IT Executive Scorecard analytics.  Excel-based reports make it easy to export data for simple distribution and use in other ways. Now BYOBI provides the data model that allows you to connect PPM data to any Business Intelligence or visualization tool and build reports your way – we provide easy access to the full range of reportable data in a separate reporting database.
