Software Support is changing, are you ready?

Right now, many organizations are in the middle of a lengthy transition from second-platform IT infrastructure —which arose with PCs in the 1980s, to third-platform solutions—a completely new value-delivery platform influenced by Cloud, mobile and other technologies. Organizations are transitioning to a hybrid infrastructure. They need an infrastructure that empowers data (and doesn’t get buried by it, promotes software security and empowers workplace productivity.

There are four key support challenges for CIOs/IT Managers:

  • Complexity in the IT environment
  • Improving IT service delivery
  • IT cost and resource management

This seems to be a common theme—most enterprises are dealing with similar issues – regardless of sector. International Data Corporation (IDC) predicts that over 80 percent of enterprise IT organizations will commit to hybrid cloud environments by the end of 2017, and over 43 percent of enterprise IT budgets will be directly tied to digital transformation by 2020.

The digital landscape is rapidly evolving and an expanded, flexible software support portfolio is crucial to address these changing business needs. New technologies should mean business benefits—but not if the IT department lacks the necessary software support to capitalize on the strengths of the new technology.
