HP Service Manager 9.34 available now!

Posted By Michael Pott, Friday, July 18, 2014

This is another milestone in the evolution of HP’s on-premise ITSM solution: HP Service Manager 9.34 has been released on July 16. It further simplifies your ITSM solution:

  • A refreshed user interface increases IT service desk agent speed and productivity.
  • A new native calendar improves planning and reduces risk for key process tasks.
  • ITSM Deployment Manager accelerates the deployment of a complete ITSM solution, including Service Manager, Release Control, Asset Manager, Universal CMDB and Universal Discovery. This has already been available since June as a content pack.
  • A case exchange framework integrates external service desks and handles incidents end to end transparently across multiple service desks and suppliers.

Above all is the innovative new HP Service Manager Smart Analytics module, embedding HP IDOL. Through Big Data analytics with unstructured data, it simplifies ticketing and problem isolation. A user only needs to provide a few simple text lines or just attach an image, and HP Service Manager Smart Analytics does the rest by automatically categorizing and assigning the ticket. Big Data analytics also looks for patterns and themes in huge quantities of unstructured incident data to identify “hot topics” to speed up problem isolation. It is available as a public beta version and will be available as a separately licensed module soon.

With HP Service Manager 9.34 you further increase your service quality, improve staff and end user efficiency and reduce risk.

Simplifying business analytics for IT

Posted By Richard Hawes, Friday, July 18, 2014

At the HP Discover event in Las Vegas in June HP released v9.30 of the HP IT Executive Scorecard. This version has a number of important updates that simplify the link between IT performance and business value. Executive Scorecard is built on a unique data model that enables financial and performance information to be combined from many different IT sources. It then presents that in a dashboard and balanced scorecard built from best-practice components and includes hundreds of out of the box KPIs.

“Executive Scorecard is no longer just for executives” said Uri Maoz, product manager. “We are finding that our customers want hundreds of people in their organizations to benefit from an aggregated view of performance that has a business perspective. A client in manufacturing is using Scorecard to bring data together from multiple instances of Service Manager and combining it with BSM information. This gives service owners new insights into the business perception of their services.”

Some of the new capabilities in v9.30 of Executive Scorecard include:

  • Embedding – embed Scorecard screens in SharePoint, HP Cloud Services Automation, or other dashboards, or embed other web pages in Executive Scorecard (like BSM real-time data)
  • New mobile client – access the same browser-based dashboard data from your iOS, Android or Windows 8 tablet
  • Self-service UI – allow the user to try different data and drill-down views without having to rebuild dashboards

Now shipping HP Propel on-premise

Posted By Vesna Soraic, Friday, July 18, 2014

As already announced in early June, this month HP shipped its first on-premise release of Propel, a solution for transforming IT into a service broker. HP Propel helps break the deadlock between IT and end users.

On one side there is IT, which is facing the following dilemmas:

  • The team is super busy and trying to do it all
  • The department is required to stay within the allowed security and governance compliance circle
  • The department is trying to deliver a helpful and engaging experience, automate service requests fulfillments and integrate multiple suppliers without losing control and providing everything on mobile devices.

On the other side we have the end user who does not want to differentiate between “what I want” and “what I think I should be able to have”. The end user is surrounded by rich offerings of goods and services, used to constant consumption of what they need, when they need it.

Now, IT has to deliver business users demands at the speed of business – which is faster than ever. HP Propel enables IT organizations to deliver and broker traditional, cloud, and hybrid IT services. IT is now accepting that the new strategy is around “what else can we do for our business users” and not only about building unique capabilities.   With this shift, IT has new capability to provide the desired consumer experience and more services. Part of these services will be from IT’s own repertoire and part will be from external suppliers. HP Propel enables IT to deliver these services in superior speed and simultaneously it solves the issue of point-to-point integrations which drained lots of time and resources on implementing and maintaining it.

Propel’s key capabilities

The unique capabilities provided by HP Propel, empower our customers to:

  • Increase time to value by quickly assessing capabilities of external service providers and making them available to the business
  • Enhance service quality by capturing 100 percent of the IT customer’s demand and feedback
  • Improve consumer engagement  and satisfaction with a single, unified, app-store like experience and
  • Reduce IT costs by quickly on-boarding and integrating internal and external systems, which drives business efficiency.

With HP Propel on premise, IT provides a single destination for business users to request and consume their needed services. The single service catalog aggregates services from underlying catalogs, such as ITSM or cloud services catalogs. Service aggregation is achieved through federation principles, which enables fast implementation without “rip-and-replace”. The Propel catalog uses your existing fulfillment engines to fulfill the requests and enables unified experience, regardless of the ordered service.

If you are interested to learn about all features and values that Propel 1.0 provides, please do not hesitate to contact us at HP or visit our web page www.hp.com/go/propel. In particular we recommend IDC paper “HP Propel, a Solution to Transform IT into a Multi-Supplier Service Broker”

More information about HP Propel 1.0 you can also read in our blog post Introducing HP Propel on-premise: give your users a shortcut to information, decisions and actions
