Globalization and Measures

Most of us work in an environment where we have been involved in offshore and/or outsourcing component(s) or getting our feet wet. I have been involved in some of both for about the last year and we are really starting to look at metrics around effectiveness, costs, productivity and also general governance around the relationships. We are working to leverage our HP investment in accomplishing this as anyone involved in metrics can attest, it can be labor intensive. I am curious if anyone is heading in this direction or is your data being collected into a "metrics repository" and reported against and if your governance model(s) have incorporated the use of the tools?

Call for Feedback

Hello Every One,

I wanted to catch you up with what has been happening at Vivit.

Closing out 2007, the community voiced a lot of dissatisfaction around HP Software Customer Support. We received feedback on issues with accessing customer support, the knowledge bases, tickets getting closed prematurely, skill & knowledge level of support staff, etc. We have continued to work with the key individuals within HP to channel this feedback and communicate urgency and anxiety levels of the community. HP has responded and continues to take improvement in Support very serious. In our latest call this past week with HP we did discuss the communications of what HP has accomplished and what their continued plans are, out to the community. Communicating these plans has been a weak area and a continued challenge but we are expecting you will begin to see an increased level of tangible information from HP in this area. HP is very willing to work with the Vivit community to get this information out and we are working with them to identify the best vehicles, including speaking at Chapter Meetings, possible VForums, and e-mail broadcasts. We are looking for your feedback - how best can we get this information to you? Also I want to encourage everyone that if they are having support issues, to continue posting to the support discussion forum. HP is monitoring as the Board of Directors. No news can be construed as everything is OK and/or improving.

As you may be aware, it will soon be time to vote for new board members. We are always looking for new talent that has a desire to make a difference in the Vivit Community. Serving on a board is a very rewarding experience so if you feel you have the time and desire to give, or know someone who would be a good candidate, I encourage you to send me an e-mail.

And last but certainly not least, I have heard from a lot of you (or should I say continue to hear) that you would like to see and hear from other customers on their HP implementations - challenges, approaches, etc. We are in the process of planning the rollout of a monthly customer implementation spotlight. Our thought is to establish a live virtual forum where a customer would present their implementation and those that signed up would have the opportunity to interact with the customer during a Q&A session. I am looking for feedback on topics that would be of most interest to people. As well as I am looking for volunteers to present. I am more than willing to sign up to present if people would like to hear about what we have done at John Hancock Financials. But I am looking for others as well. We would like to put a 6 month schedule out in advance to give people time to plan. So if you are interested in presenting, please let me know. As well as topics. The presentations do not need to be formal, so do not be afraid to volunteer because you have to create something fancy.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Welcome and Happy New Year

First of all I would like to wish our community a very Happy New Year!

I am very excited to take over the reigns of President. The Vivit organization has been very fortunate to have great leadership in its transformation and I would like to again thank Dan for the great job he did in the past year.

In my short time serving on the board, I have spoken to and met a lot of very enthusiastic and knowledgeable people. Their energy is infectious and the kind we would all love to be around and catch. The kind that is needed to continue to build on the community OpenView Forum began and Vivit will continue. I would encourage you all to get involved in the organization, by sharing your experiences (good and bad), issues, recommendations, etc. We all can gain from each other and is why we are here.

To give you a brief summary of my background, I have been involved in the HP software suite for about 8 years. I was primarily a former Mercury customer but we use legacy HP as well. I am responsible for the implementation of our toolsets throughout IT and as such was very involved with Mercury and now HP in providing product feedback. We have implementations of Quality Center, Performance Center, BAC, PPM, CCM, Service Center, Asset Center, QTP and are looking at NNM this month.

I am also a first time blogger !! so I hope to be chatting with many of you out there.
