INSTRUCTOR: DAVID BERG, SENIOR DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT MANAGEMENT, SHUNRA SOFTWARE

Take your performance testing skills to the next level! This deep dive session helps testing engineers learn a structured and repeatable approach to mobile application performance engineering using a combination of several products from HP and Shunra Software. The Shunra Application Performance Engineering framework is a common-sense arrangement of practices, processes and deliverables that help to organize the performance engineering activities into a more comprehensive and efficient program. You’ll learn how to enhance the planning of your mobile performance tests by first discovering the real-world conditions of the end-user environment, leveraging information from production monitoring. You’ll learn how to effectively incorporate real-world conditions into your testing labs or staging environment. Then we’ll spend time digging into the workings of a real application and infrastructure, analyzing the performance issues and limitations. At the end, we’ll help you learn how to bring all the raw data together and produce a business case for solving and improving the performance of your application and validate the remediation of the real performance issues.

Specific skills acquired include:
● Introduction to a repeatable framework for Mobile Application Performance Engineering
● How to enhance performance test planning with data collected from and about the real world of the end-user — how to include more than just the basic business flows or SLAs.
● How to recreate the real world in your testing lab – with various solutions from HP and Shunra combined
● Single User performance testing and diagnostics – looking into application behaviors, resource abuses, application scoring
● Multi-user performance testing – how to repeat the real-world load of multiple mobile users consuming resources from the application systems and the infrastructure
● Steps for Mobile Application Performance Analysis and how to correlate the information from multiple sources into actionable format for decision-making
● Hands-on exercises for analysis and cost justifications for performance optimization or remediation

Runbook Automation — What is it?
What are the use cases? Is this just for the help desk? I heard it can be used for integrations?
This four-hour session will start out with the basics, discussing what runbook automation is, discussing some practical, real-world use cases including leveraging runbook automation for security compliance and integrations, and begin training you on the industry leading runbook automation platform — HP Operations Orchestration.

The training will start out for beginners walking through the basics of Operations Orchestration. We’ll create flows from scratch and dive into the many out-of-box work flows. Once we have the basics, we’ll explore practical use cases and then dive into Operations Orchestration to facilitate seamless integrations without a single line of custom code or scripting. With Operations Orchestration as the integration interface, you have an industry leading vendor supported tool for many, or all, of your integrations needs instead of costly, hard to support point solutions. For advanced users, scripters and programmers, we’ll also take a look at how to extend Operations Orchestration with custom operations.

The course is suitable for Operations Orchestration users.

Course level: Intermediate to Advanced

Prerequisites: Participants should have at least ½ year of experience in using Operations Orchestration.

MONDAY, JUNE 4, 2012 ● 11:30am – 3:30pm
THE VENETIAN ● THE PALAZZO RESORT IN LAS VEGAS
INSTRUCTOR: ERIC KRUEGER, PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT, STRATACOM, INC.

In this course, you will discover how to Architect, Configure and Tune HP Service Manager so that your implementation has limited downtime, fast user response times, and fast query times. We will discuss the underpinnings of the HP Service Manager application and how to architect your system to minimize unplanned outages and maximize performance.

We will move into an overview of database mapping and configuration of Service Manager geared towards performance, with an eye on overall response times. We will also discuss proper configuration and tailoring, how to make sure your tailoring won’t affect overall performance and some of the most common tailoring mistakes that users make.

Then, we will discuss tuning the two most popular databases supported by HP Service Manager, Oracle and MS Sql Server, with recommendations on tuning each, plus how to work with your DBA to find a performance weak point.

Finally, we will talk about Service Manager trace files and work with actual trace files that have performance issues.

The instructor will work one-one-one so participants can learn how to uncover those issues, and then the instructor will actually challenge participants to uncover issues in trace files based on what is learned.

The course is suitable for HP Service Manager Administrators, System Architects or DBAs supporting HP Service Manager.

Course level: Intermediate to Advanced

Prerequisites: Participants should have at least ½ year of experience in using HP Service Manager.

Target Group: ITSM: HP Service Manager users, Administrators, System Architects or DBAs
