This discussion will touch on some of the many issues and considerations regarding the management of the defect lifecycle. This will include:

  • How to map the Defect Lifecycle (defect status)
  • How to effectively standardize the Defect Lifecycle data across multiple projects
  • What metrics are needed (in progress / end of project) to analyze / visualize the Defect Lifecycle
  • Identification of Defect Lifecycle “hot spots / bottlenecks” using metrics / visualizations and their implications (example of various cycles in the defect lifecycle network)
  • How to create a Defect Lifecycle knowledge base for the learning organization
