This is a test event to validate the capability of having the Vivit registration page automatically register a user for an Adobe Connect Event. The following conditions must be true for the Adobe Connect registration process to automatically occur:

  • The user must be a Vivit member
  • The user must be logged in to Vivit (Facebook authentication could be really helpful here - more on that later!)
  • The user's primary Vivit email address can be listed as an Adobe Connect Guest in our Adobe Connect account but must NOT be listed as an Adobe Connect User in our Adobe Connect account (I can explain that more later)
  • We will need to create a YM registration page for each YM event
  • We will need to use a custom Thank You page for the YM event
  • We will need to inject a little secret sauce into the Thank You page for the YM event (that's what makes the magic happen!)

If the auto-registration is successful, the user will get an email from Adobe Connect sent to their primary Vivit email address with the URL for the webinar.  The user will also get a confirmation email from YM.  I think that's ok but it would be good if the YM email could mention that the user should also receive one from Adobe Connect with login details for the event - and maybe what to do if they do not receive that email.

 

There is an issue with the Adobe Connect APIs that sends two emails the very first time you register for an event.  After that, successive registrations should only send one per event.  Maybe that can be fixed.

 

We would have a record of everyone who registered in YM that we can cross-reference with the registration list in Adobe Connect.  If the auto-registration failed for some reason, a staff person could manually add them to the Adobe Connect event.  We would need to cross-reference the lists periodically to check for failures. If we allow users to register for the YM event without being a Vivit member or without logging in, then the auto-registration would not work there either but we could manually add those users to the Adobe Connect event or we could not allow users to register for the YM event without being a logged in Vivit member.  I believe you can import lists of users to add to an event to make it easier.
