Subject: PPM 7.5 SP6
We are currently runnign SP4 in our production instance. We have tried SP5 in our Dev instance, but have found some issues that we did not want to bring to production. We have read that they are corrected in SP6. Has anyone tried SP6? Are there any hidden gotchas that HP did not see?'

We are running SP4 in our Production environment and SP5 in our Dev & Test environments due to the same concerns you have - you made a smart decision to wait! The required Java upgrade is definitely not something we expected and had to resolve several environment related issues because of it. You will encounter this regardless of whether you move to SP5 or SP6. Also, if you use Documentum to manage your attachments, you will need to perform a Documentum upgrade as well. Beyond that, were not aware of any other known issues, but most of HP's software is always suspect (as I'm sure you know) so I wouldn't be surprised if we encounter further issues with SP6.'

The issue we noticed in SP5 was there was a field group for resouce management that if you used, you could not do ANYTHING with that request. Every time you tried to save it or move it it would give you an error. Field Group Work Item Fields: These fields allow requests to be tracked as load in Resource Management visualizations. The java we resolved relatively easily (I just told my production engineer to fix it :D )

There are a lot of issues with the resource mgmt fields in the requests and Im not sure they are addressed in SP6. Since they came out w/ 7.5, it has presented us with a number of unexpected challenges. It becomes even more of a problem if you've integrated these components with time management as well.'
