Subject: HP PPM - Benefits Management
Gday All Just wanted some information about the ability/functionality of PPM to monitor, track and realise benefits even AFTER a Project has been closed From what I have seen "Out of the Box" , benefits can NOT be monitored, tracked or realised once a project has been closed Am I correct in this view or does PPM have the ability to do the above once project has been closed? Or is this a customisation? If so, how complex & costly is this to build and implement? Thanks for your help people! George'

Hi George. This is George replying. I have not, to date, seen anything about benefits tracking in PPM once the project is closed. There is a limited benefits tracking in terms of Financial Management when you can calculate the EV and ROI, but I havent seen the facility to track other quantifiable or non-quantifiable benefits besides financial ones through PPM. It would be interesting to hear from others in this forum as to how they are tracking benefits using the product. Does it work for them, I wonder? Does it work for you?'

Hi! Out of the box there is a life-cycle workflow that enables you to transition Proposals into Projects and Projects into Assets. When a Project is closed, the information is transferred over to the Asset (Staffing, Financial Summary, Request Type data etc.). This enables you to track costs and benefits as well as non-tangible benefits in relationship to the original business case รป Thus support tracking and Management of Benefits Realization. The Asset entity is also attached to a workflow where toll-gates, reviews etc. can be defined. Roles and Responsibilities can of course also be determined (E.g. Benefits Realization Manager). You can even link the Asset entity in PPM to a Business Service in the UCMDB if that relationship is of value. Best Regards, Johan
