VIVIT DEEP DIVE TRAINING

Vivit will be conducting deep dive technical implementation and integration training sessions on the afternoon of Monday, June 14, and the morning of Tuesday, June 15, before HP Software Universe kicks off.  We have eight four-hour deep dive technical sessions planned.  You can sign-up for these courses when you register for HPSU.

Class #1: Leveraging Web services architectures for secure, reliable, real-time application integrations.  (Monday Afternoon)

Join Travis DePuy and Ryan Palkovic, senior technical HP Service Manager consultants with TechPort13, as they present real-world case studies of  how Web services can be used to solve application integration challenges. You’ll hear about basic Web services concepts, the advantages of using Web services instead of ServiceCenter and Service Manager tools such as scauto or Connect-It, and real use cases of implementing Web services solutions. Specific topics will include:

  • Integrating HP Universal CMDB and Service Manager
  • Real-time integration of HP ServiceCenter and Oracle

Attend this class and learn advanced tailoring techniques and best practices for your HP Service Manager application. Specific topics will include:

  • An introduction to dynamic formats, with best practices, advantages, and disadvantages
  • An introduction to triggers, with best practices, ways to use triggers to control records after workflow completion, and ways to code JavaScript for related functionality
  • Real-world examples and in-depth work with tailoring tools for HP Service Catalog
  • An introduction to wizards, with advice on creating them, best practices for using them, and tailoring in IIA/Service Manager 7.10
  • Best practices for using new form elements for Smart Indicators introduced in IIA/Service Manager 7.10

Class #3 Run-book automation - what is it? what are the use cases? Is this just for the help desk? I heard it can be used for integrations?  (Monday Afternoon)

This four-hour session will explore run-book automation, answering your questions about what it is, how it is used, whether it extends beyond the help desk, and how it can be used for integrations. Jake Burman,  Opsware Practice Manager from Pepperweed Consulting will cover with the basics of HP Operations, our industry-leading run-book automation platform, to get beginners up to speed. We’ll create workflows from scratch and look in detail at many of the out-of-the-box flows available. Then for more advanced uses we’ll explore practical use cases and then show you how to:

  • Use the solution to facilitate seamless integrations without a single line of custom code or scripting.
  • Use the solution for many or all of your integration needs
  • Extend Operations Orchestration with custom operations

Class #4 Network Node Manager 8i implementation best practices.  (Monday Afternoon)

Chris Munro Senior Consultant with Greenlight Group will present implementation hints and tips, as well as best practices for getting the most out of NNM 8i.  NNM8i installation and configuration options covering the following topics:

  • Monitoring based on Node Groups and Interface Groups.
  • NNM8i integrations: Integrations witho uCMDB, OMU, SM and others.
  • NNM iSPI Performance for Metrics: Installation, Configuration, Capabilities
  • NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic: Installation, Configuration, Capabilities

Class #7 A practical approach to operational reporting from HP Service Manager / HP Service Center.  (Monday Afternoon)

Presenters are Richard Verburg and David van Heusden.  Attend this class and learn about the reporting options from HP Service Manager and gain practical insight into how you can access data from HP Service Manager.   Specific topics will include:

  1. Why ITSM reporting? Understanding the importance of reporting from HP Service Manager and the need for an iterative approach
  2. Steps involved in the reporting process: from requirements gathering to the distribution of completed reports
  3. Which reporting options are available from HP Service Manager? From dashboards within HP Service Manager to generic reporting technologies to point solutions
  4. Where does HP Service Manager store the data you need and how can you access this data
