Welcome New Directors

(Left to Right: Todd DeCapua, Christopher J. Scharer, Mark Herbert, Richard Bishop, Tammy Young, Mark Ford, Karen Semonson and Chris Trimper)

by Richard Bishop, Vivit President

Last month the new Vivit Board of Directors met for their first face-to-face meeting of the year in the windy city of Chicago to discuss Vivit’s approach to the spin merge with Micro Focus and set Vivit’s strategy for the next 12 months. During the meeting Directors were elected to the following chair positions:

Richard Bishop – President
Mark Herbert – Vice President of Operations
Todd DeCapua – Vice President of Strategy and Innovation
Christopher J. Scharer – Treasurer
Karen Semonson – Secretary
Mark Ford – Community Director
Chris Trimper – Education Director
Tammy Young – Advocacy Director
Bernard Szymczak – Special Projects Director

Our meeting in Chicago represented a change for Vivit, since the board normally meets at the Discover conference. As the HPE software business transitions to the new Micro Focus company, we are likely to be involved in a larger number of smaller, regional conferences which we believe will be better for our members, rather than focusing a large proportion of our efforts attending two major conferences. Our new strategy is still being developed, but we’re keen to work hard on increasing collaboration and sharing between members whilst continuing to help bring you the latest news from HPE software (soon to be Micro Focus).

Over the coming months, the newsletter will feature updates from each of the directors, so that the members can get to know them as we share our 2017-18 plans. Stay tuned!

Discover the New

With our sights set on September 1st for the planned launch of the new combined company, we are preparing to join forces with Micro Focus to become the 7th largest pure-play software company in the world, with combined estimated annual revenues of $4.5 billion and 18,000 employees that will serve 40,000 customers. This will set the stage for us to shape the software industry delivering enterprise-scale solutions across the hybrid IT landscape, while focusing on value-creating M&A to further expand the portfolio.

Shining Star Award Presented to Vivit Leader

During the EMEA Customer Forum in Dublin this past May, our Vivit Service Management SIG Leader, Mark Laird, was awarded the Shining Star Award for his presentation, The Next Generation - HPE ITSM Automation in Containers: What’s in there for me? Mark Laird along with his Sopria Steria colleague and fellow Vivit member, Stuart Crann, discussed industry change triggers including the digital transformation, evolving customer expectations, and innovation. Challenges like a high level of customization and the need to quickly scale the architecture when onboarding new customers led them to become a part of HPE’s EPR Program for HPE ITSM Automation in containers. Moving forward, they expect benefits like faster and easier upgrades and the ability to delegate administration. Congratulations Mark Laird!
