I have applied the lates BC 2.3.1 patch on the host and BC Server (running on SMA).
Similar jobs on Windows 2000 hosts work fine.
The storage is EVA3K vcs 3.028 and W2k3 host are running SecurePath latest patches.
Any help from anyone having met this problem is more than appreciated!
I`m trying to figure out how Open View Storage Mirroring works and if I can use it for Data replication over WAN. What I can`t find in the Userguide is:
which permissions must I have to use it, respectively to replicate data. Must I have Administrator rights on source and target server?
Second question is:Is it possible to replicate data without their NTFS-permissions?
And ist it possible to configure different replication sets to the same cluster-server (target) which have different aliasnames and ip-addresses?
Thank you in advance for any answer and best regards,
So, if anyone has some links / sites of value, or other pointers, please post up. I find that I need to become a subject matter expert rather quickly :)
Can I do full server-to-server mirroring with OVSM? (I want the 2 servers to have identical content in terms of OS/configuration/data) Does this require identical hardware? (could I use a G4 DL380 and a G5 DL380?)
Is there any documentation available that'll get me started in setting this up? The 3 PDFs on the OVSM CD and documentation on the HP website are fairly vague.
need some help
I have 2 x AI600.
I have version 1.5 of AIO storage system on both
I have paid for and have licenses for SWSM on both (5.0.2)
However when I use the SWSM management console it says the license is VALID and I can set up replicated send
BUT thru the All In One storage management console I get an Alert saying.
No valid license for machine.name.uk license expired 01/01/1970'
My client has a 3mb link between sites (10KM) and wishes to use OVSM for replication. Is there any sizing tools for OVSM, to calculate the transfer rate and iops?
I need assistance, I am going to setup OVSM 5.1 for Exchange Server Replication. I need to know:
a. I know SOURCE and TARGET must both be running the same Operating System, but if one Server is Windows 2003 STD and the other is Windows 2003 ENT, will it be ok?
b. My SOURCE Server is a domain Controller with Exchange Server on it, and not a member server. This is not a good setup, but its too late to make changes.
I have transferred all the FSMO roles to another domain controller. Can I continue with OVSM installation? because the server is a production server and I believe its not possible to remove domain controller when exchange is still there.
We're running Openview 442, and have just updated a couple of our DL380 Storage Servers to "Windows Storage Server R2"
Problem is, the OpenView now refuses to mirror with the message "You are attempting to login to a server with a missing or invalid activiation code. The Activiation code may have been entered incorrectly or is invalid for this version of the operating system. Without a valid activiation code, HP OpenView Storage Mirroring functionality is disabled."
Openview works fine on servers that we havent applied the R2 update to - but on servers we have applied it to we get the message above. Is there an updated release of Openview, or do we need to update the licence or something? I can't find any info about this anywhere!
Have a customer proposal to do a multi-cluster on MSA 1500cs with Storage Mirror over VPN to remote site. I have a visio diagram I would like for you to review and comment on. My first thought, is that the OV Storage Mirroring needs to be installed on each Clustered Node, and it looks like he is trying to use a single DL380 to peek at the nodes data and do the storage mirroring for them, is this possible or advisable ? I would think he needs OV Storage mirros LTU's for each node, and the destination target, and he is trying to do LTU's on the cheap by having it sneak the data off to the remote site ? Thoughts ? In addition, the whole internet vpn thing, I think I heard 3MB pipe, but that sounds too weak.. Dedicated private frame relay circuit better ? Can I direct connect three servers (1 or 2 clusters) to the msa 1500cs and have one clone/morror it ? Is there a bandwidth calculator available for the storage mirroring options ? Thanks, ofr you input.
I'm getting a trouble to install the HP StorageWorks Storage Mirroring v.5.1 on Windows Server 2008 (both x32 and x64 edition). I have purchased this product: HP Storage Mirroring SW ENT Server 1 LTU (Product No: T5440A). I didn't receive any media kit except this paper license. Following the instruction, I have obtained the product key already. The QuickSpecs said that it is support Windows Server 2008. I have try to download the evaluation software from this link: https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/try.do?productNumber=SWSM but can not install successfully. Anytime I got this error message: "Version 5.1.1867.0 of HP StorageWorks Storage Mirroring does not run on this operating system version." (attachment).
Could you please help me find out what happened and how to fix it. If there is any version of this software can install in Windows Server 2008 Ent., please provide me the link to download it.
Thanks for your help.

I have a couple of questions for the forum...
1) Does anyone happen to know if OpenView Storage Mirroring (OV SM) is supported on a NAS 2000S platform that is running Windows Storage Server 2003?
I have a simple requirement to mirror 1Tb of data across two small NAS boxes.
2) OV SM Licensing. I know that if I am running WSS2003 I need the OV SM Advanced version, but it is packaged in different LTU sizes (1, 10, 25, 50, 100 & 200).
Can anyone tell me what a LTU is or what I need to purchase for two NAS boxes, mirroring 1Tb of data?
Any help you can offer will be appreciated!
The question i made is because I have a ML350 with a MSA1000 and I want to mirror both the server and the san to a disaster recovery site that has a server with no SAN attached. The OS is windows 2000 Server 32 bit.
if my main system fails, I want to switch to the replica.
we replicates virtual machine files between two DL380 G5 over network, with ovsm V126.96.36.1997.22S standard edition
No modification are operate and this morning we have this message :
Event Source: Dblhook
Event Category: Printers
Event ID: 16395
Dblhook detected a hard link for a file. The volume GUID and file ID are stored in the Data Window. This file will not be replicated.
Any idea ?
I am Not finding any catagory for OVSM That's Why i am including this message in this catagory

I have a sharepoint web server , for which i check the availabilty of the server throuh OVIS- HTTP WEB SERVICE. I have configured all the service target details, thresholds and probe location required. The availabilty was working fine but for the last few days the server shows unavailable.
I am able to ping the server. Once i delete the existing service details and configure them all again it works fine for some times and becomes unavailable again.
Please tell me how to identify the issue at the earliest.
