TechBeacon

Posted By Rob Mitchell, Tuesday, November 27, 2018

What’s the right way to deploy with containers? Could Blockchain help IT operations teams? These subjects were among the most popular with readers this month on TechBeacon, Micro Focus’ information hub for IT practitioners.

Why encryption backdoors are no worries for the enterprise. Governments may soon require technology vendors to put backdoors in their products to support governments' requirements for eavesdropping. So how will that affect your organization? It won’t—if you have the proper key management in place. Micro Focus distinguished technologist and encryption expert Luther Martin explains.

Best practices and anti-patterns for containerized deployments. What are the six best practices to consider—and the six things you absolutely must avoid—when you’re modernizing applications and investing in container-based development and infrastructure?

Blockchain for data security: A resource guide for IT Ops teams. Blockchain canstore any information securely in the cloud—or in your data center. IT pros who understand potential of blockchain on IT operations can lead the way. What will you say when the CIO asks you about blockchain? Get up to speed quickly with these resources.

Predictive analytics: How to bring fortune telling to CloudOps. What operational decisions would you make if you had near-perfect information? Your IT operations monitoring tools may already include tactical analytics capabilities, but can you compare overall system performance data to benchmarks and historical performance data? Can you compare it against outside influences, such as projected data growth, security attacks, or even the weather? CloudOps expert David Linthicum tells you how to leverage those capabilities and more.

Updated: Friday, November 16, 2018

Version 2018.11 of the Micro Focus CMS consists of Universal CMDB (UCMDB) and Universal Discovery (UD). Version 2018.11 is released with Content Pack 29.00.

This release supports running CMS products and components in FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) mode leveraging the BouncyCastle library for encryption.

The release also makes it easier to control the quality of the data of your discovery, by enabling you to set reconciliation prioritization for discovery jobs, including setting rules for prioritization of CI types and attributes from specific discovery jobs.

The release introduces new Query Designer module within the CMS UI to easily create complex queries to the UCMDB, and enhancing the Reconciliation Analyzer module with new troubleshooting tools to analyze and understand main issues on the quality of the data that is sent to the CMSB, and help you resolve cases when data is not at the right quality.

Trending on TechBeacon: How JP Morgan, Jaguar Land Rover and Accenture scaled DevOps, built their teams and more

Posted By Rob Mitchell, Tuesday, November 6, 2018
Updated: Friday, November 16, 2018

DevOps is trending this month on TechBeacon, Micro Focus’ information hub for IT practitioners. Want to know how JP Morgan and Jaguar Land Rover made DevOps a success? Or the secrets behind how Accenture scaled its DevOps team? Read on…

Jaguar Land Rover hits the accelerator with DevOps: A DevOps transformation within an enterprise takes hard work, says Software Engineering Director Chris Hill. Here’s how they did it.

How J.P. Morgan Asset Management went from quarterly to daily releases: How do you go from quarterly software-release cycle to daily releases in a highly regulated business? Break down the walls, get your toolchain in order, and pay down technical debut that’s bogging down processes, says Danny Myers, Head of Equities Production Management.

Practice what you preach: How Accenture scaled its DevOps team: The Global management consulting and professional services firm took the lead with its own DevOps team. Four years ago Uldis Karlovs-Karlovskis, Nordics DevOps Lead, had 25 people on his DevOps team; now he has 120. He quickly learned that the processes that worked with 25 didn’t work with 50. Here’s how he adapted.

DevSecCon: Container, serverless growth haunts DevOps security: Of 240 proposed presentations for DevSecCon, more than 30% focused on securing serverless computing and microservices. Lots of people are interested in both topics. Especially, How do you use them, and how do you use them securely? Rob Lemos reports.
