Vivit Carolinas Chapter Update - May 2011

Posted By Chapter Leaders, Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Vivit Carolinas Chapter Update - May 2011

Dear Chapter Members, Partners, and friends of Vivit,

Carolinas Chapter - 2011 Events

We still plan to hold two more Chapter Events in 2011. We're targeting late July for the next event and plan to include items from the HP Discover conference, a product presentation or two and time for break-out networking sessions. Stay tuned for more details. From the survey responses we received there is a strong desire for end user presentations so if you have a topic you’d like to present please contact one of the chapter leaders today!

Are you attending HP Discover?

If you are attending this summer's HP Discover conference, please let chapter leaders Jim Copio and/or Mark Ford know. They will both be at the conference and can help make sure you get plugged in to all of the Vivit related events. There is a lot going on that you won't want to miss such as the Vivit Annual Meeting and Vivit Roundtables. Be sure to stop by the Vivit booth on the showroom floor and meet other chapter leaders and members as well. There's still time to register for HP Discover and take advantage of all the activities plus in-depth Vivit sponsored training and free HP Certification training as well.

Follow the HP Discover Conference on Twitter

Whether you attend HP Discover or not you can stay up to date on news and info by following these Twitter accounts: @VivitCarolinas, @VivitWorldwide, and of course @HPDiscover. There will also be plenty of blogs available on HP's blog site.

Items from Vivit Worldwide:

Vivit Worldwide Social Media

We are ramping up our social media efforts to further promote collaboration and information-sharing between Vivit members. As you know, we have a Vivit LinkedIN group with about 800 members. We also have a Twitter account: @VivitWorldwide. Please be sure to follow us.

Vivit Board Member Elections

As you may know, the expected election conclusion date has come and gone; however, we were not able to meet our quorum by this time. So as a result, we’re extending the elections until the quorum is met. Legally, we cannot close the election until at least 10% of our eligible members have voted. If you haven't already done so, please cast your vote at: http://www.vivit-worldwide.org/election.cfm

Feedback

We are always interested in your feedback and like to know your opinions on how Vivit can best serve your needs as members. Feel free to get in touch with us at any time if you have any suggestions or advice for us, or if you’d like to share something with your fellow members.

Vivit Carolinas Chapter Update - April 2011

Posted By Chapter Leaders, Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Vivit Carolinas Chapter Update - April 2011

Dear Chapter Members,  Partners, and friends of Vivit,

This is the first installment of the Vivit Carolinas Chapter Update - what we hope will be a monthly newsletter for you - our valued chapter member.  We plan to include content specific to our local chapter as well as information from Vivit Worldwide.  We hope that you will find this information useful.  As always, feedback is welcome!

HP BTO APPS Presentation - Vivit Carolinas Chapter Event - March 24th

Thanks to everyone who was able to attend our last chapter meeting.  We had a great turn out and it sounded like everyone found something of value at the meeting.  Special thanks go to our presenters Joey Howe (HP) and Dan Brewton (HP) for their presentations on QC, ALM, Sprinter, and PC.  Congratulations Mac Bullock for winning the door prize!  If you received a link to the evaluation and future meeting input survey and haven't filled it out yet, please do so today! Thanks also go out to our event sponsors:

More 2011 Events Planned for the Carolinas Chapter

We plan to hold two more Chapter Events in 2011 possibly in the late July and early November timeframes.  We are always looking for end user presentations on the HP Software portfolio - if you have a topic you’d like to present please contact one of the chapter leaders. Stay tuned for more details.

Items from Vivit Worldwide:

Membership

Vivit is working to increase its membership and develop more of a voice within HP. We now have over 5000 members across the world. This is how they are broken down by region.

You will notice that almost 21% of our members are not categorized into a region. If you would take a few minutes and update your profile information on the Vivit website if needed we would greatly appreciate it!  It will help Vivit track the membership across the world. You can do this at the main Vivit website. http://www.vivit-worldwide.org

Board of Directors Election

Vivit is managed by nine board members who are elected by the Vivit membership. Directors are appointed for three-year terms which means that each year three directors are "up for election". Go to the web site http://www.vivit-worldwide.org/election.cfm by April 15th to read the bio’s of each candidate and vote for board members you feel are prepared to take Vivit to the next level.  If a 10% quorum is not met by April 15th then voting will continue until 10% of the membership has cast their votes.

Leader of the Year Nominations

Nominate your Chapter or SIG Leader today.  The deadline is April 8th.  The honoree will be announced and recognized at HP DISCOVER in Las Vegas, June 6th – 10th.  http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22BWPJB424C/

HP Discover 2011

HP Discover is replacing the HP Software Universe events in America and Europe. This event will now combine HP Software Universe, HP Tech Forum and the HP Technology@work events into one conference!  If you are considering attending the Las Vegas conference, let your chapter leaders know so they can keep you informed of networking opportunities during the conference.

Vivit Website

The Vivit website is getting a major makeover and the new site will hopefully be launched in time for the HP Discover conference this summer. The product specific forums will be migrated to the HP Software Solutions Community Online website and both Vivit and HP will link to one another. The Vivit website will concentrate on Vivit's three key pillars.
  • Advocacy - influencing HP product direction and development.
  • Community - face to face and virtual interaction with other HP software users
  • Education - webinars and training at the Discover conferences as well as sharing best practice techniques.

Vivit Social Media

While we wait for the new Vivit website, we're developing a number of initiatives to promote collaboration and information-sharing between Vivit members. If you use Twitter or LinkedIn there are a number of tweeters/groups that may be of interest to you:

If you have a blog or twitter feed related to HP Software it would be great to hear from you. Get in touch using Twitter and will be happy to re-tweet relevant information to our followers. Vivit will be hosting a "tweet-up" at HP Discover, so be sure to follow @VivitWorldwide to keep up to date at the conference.

Feedback

We are always interested in your feedback and like to know your opinions on how Vivit can best serve your needs as members. Feel free to get in touch with us at any time if you have any suggestions or advice for us, or if you’d like to share something with your fellow members.

Sincerely,
