Americas Award Nominees 2016

Posted By Lyndsey Zajac, Friday, May 6, 2016
Updated: Tuesday, October 18, 2016

Appreciation. Miriam Webster provides a simple but elegant definition of the word; "a feeling of being grateful for something. An ability to understand the worth, quality or importance of something.”

For Vivit, being grateful is for all the somethings that encompass the efforts our volunteer leaders put forth each year; holding events in local Chapters and SIGs, speaking at webinars or local meetings, networking and sharing experiences with Vivit membership in Chapter meetings, and staying active in the Vivit user community and social media.

It is time once more for the Vivit organization to look back over the year at those efforts by our leaders and appreciate those select leaders for their continued contributions to Vivit members by recognizing them. Each year, Vivit asks membership to appreciate those stand-out leaders to be recognized for their efforts by nominating them for one of the following awards:  Leader of the Year, Speaker of the Year and Champion of the Year. Rocky Pisto
Vivit Engage Coordinator

Have you ever asked yourself, "how do I grow my career with HPE software" or "how do we know what HPE software solution is best for our organization?" Well, the Vivit Community is offering an opportunity to help answer both questions at Discover 2016 Las Vegas.

Real world experience has always been the best approach to learning, no matter what the solution. For the past 23 years, Vivit has been delivering real world experience and networking opportunities to HPE software end users and partners — the best and the brightest. We understand the services required to support our members' needs to grow their career. Deep Dive sessions are one of those services.

Year after year, our community has asked for more in-depth software sessions at Discover to focus on specific knowledge about a solution, best practices, end user experiences, and how-to steps to build confidence that the solution will deliver as promised. Consider the Deep Dive Sessions as more of a consultative approach to understanding the validity of the solution.

This year is a banner year for Deep Dive Sessions; Vivit is offering 15 sessions with limited capacity of 25 registrants per session. These sessions offer many of the current solution updates and direction. Start your Discover Las Vegas experience ahead of the rest by letting Vivit help you prepare for the next upgrade or new solution offering. Attend a Deep Dive Session on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 1:00pm – 5:00pm for $99.

Vivit Deep Dive Sessions are now Live for Registration when you register for Discover 2016 Las Vegas or just sign in to your existing registration now!

Spotlight on a Volunteer - April 2016

Posted By Lyndsey Zajac, Wednesday, April 6, 2016
Updated: Friday, March 18, 2016

Carsten Neise
Senior IT Quality Consultant
proficom AG
Germany Chapter Leader

" VIVIT is a community which gives us (test experts) a platform to discuss topics with like-minded people and to share our knowledge and experiences in the area of testing. With about 34,000 members this platform is perfectly suited to meet other experts and also get to know the newest achievements in this area. The knowledge exchange can be done in several ways; one way is to attend one of the weekly held webinars. The webinars tell us the newest technical achievements and they also close with a very "vivid” discussion giving us new impulses for our daily work. These facts, and additionally the point that VIVIT is independent of any vendor, make me feel very comfortable being a VIVIT member.

Consuming by attending information sessions is not the only option. This means, VIVIT gives all members the chance of participating actively inside the community. That was the starting point for me; I became a chapter leader (Germany) in October 2015. During that time, I got to know a lot of other VIVIT contributors and members with whom I had a lot of nice discussions. These discussions showed me that particular flavor of knowledge exchange of actual topics, especially with Dr. Andreas Birk.  I want to further extend the influence of VIVIT on the German market. The beginning was made on March 17th when we held the first VIVIT meeting in Berlin I really enjoyed the nice atmosphere and getting to know a lot of different perspectives on solving problems using the HPE Software products. Further events are planned and I hope to transport a bit of my way of thinking into the community."

Hewlett Packard Enterprise event in April to equip government IT professionals

At the Hilton Washington, Wednesday, April 13, 2016, government IT professionals will come together for the 6th-annual Hewlett Packard Enterprise Government Summit. The event represents a unique opportunity for participants to learn better insights and smarter tactics that can help them succeed.

Government organizations recognize that adopting Cloud, bolstering security, harnessing Big Data and delivering mobile services are essential to modern service delivery. Accordingly, Hewlett Packard Enterprise is focusing efforts to help government entities transform to a hybrid infrastructure, protect the digital enterprise, empower the data-driven enterprise and enable workplace productivity. The April 13 gathering will provide opportunities to learn, connect and grow in these areas.

Rich lineup of keynote speakers

As the morning keynote, Dr. Madeleine K. Albright, America's first female U.S. Secretary of State, will draw upon her extensive experience in public service and her ongoing work in the private sector to offer the audience a unique and up-to-the-minute perspective on the issues confronting the United States and the world. Dr. Albright’s presentations are renowned for their powerful insights, fascinating stories and skillful analysis.

Speakers will also include Michael Durant, Retired Chief Warrant Officer Four, United States Army. Durant was the pilot of Black Hawk helicopter Super Six Four that was fired upon and subsequently brought down during a combat operation in Mogadishu, Somalia on October 3, 1993.

Attendees will also hear from Lewis Carr, Senior Director, World-wide Software Marketing, HPE. Lewis has been with HP Software two years covering various strategic software initiatives including vertical industry and key horizontal solution development areas.

Powerful reasons to attend

The April 13 agenda provides opportunities to learn best practices from government leaders and HPE executives. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with over 750 government executives, including top C-level professionals from agencies like the FBI, DHS, GSA and more. Attendees will be able to explore HPE's portfolio of leading security solutions, and take advantage of complimentary access to the event for all government employees and systems integrators.

Valuable agenda

Attendees will be able to choose from among multiple tracks that include

Transform: By accelerating federal datacenter consolidation and cloud initiatives, organizations can improve shared and domain-specific services, while reducing risk and cost across on-premise, private and public cloud.

Protect: In order to secure constituent and employee assets and operations, organizations must accelerate their ability to assess risks, while continuously monitoring, diagnosing and remediating user interactions, apps and data.

Empower: To leverage traditional data and Big Data, organizations need to simultaneously test programs and ideas, and then convert emerging value into enterprise-grade deployments that integrate with employee workflows and deliver services to constituents.

Enable: Organizations can accelerate the experience revolution for employees and constituents by securely delivering an integrated mobile app portfolio to distributed campus environments, teleworkers and external constituents on any device – BYOD or government-furnished equipment.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise supports Wounded Warriors, strengthens cyber defense

The Wounded Warrior Cyber Combat Academy*, a.k.a. W2CCA, is building the next generation of cyber defenders.

W2CCA's approach is novel and invaluable. Their "students" are military service members who have suffered a serious life-altering injury, either in combat or non-combat situations. These people are dedicated, highly motivated, disciplined and trustworthy team players sought by both industry and government. Once trained, they protect and defend the nation's information systems.

The W2CCA program is administered by the Federal IT Security Institute (FITSI) on behalf of the Federal IT Security Institute Foundation – both non-profit organizations working with industry partners to support this worthwhile initiative.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Software along with Jim Wiggins, Executive Director of FITSI, will be honored to support the W2CCA at the 2016 HPE Government Summit at the Washington Hilton on April 13.

Please stop by the W2CCA table located just outside the HPE/Partner Exhibit Hall. Receive a T-shirt and enter a raffle for a chance to win an HP laptop and HP printer. All donations from this event will go toward retraining Wounded Warriors to become cyber defenders.
