William Sheridan

Advanced MarketPlace
Chicago Chapter Leader
Minnesota Chapter Leader

"I have been the VP of Sales & Marketing of Advanced MarketPlace for 13 years. Over that time, I feel the greatest value I bring to the people I work with is showing them how to maximize every ounce of value from the solutions they own. Too often, the software industry has failed to help its customers get the most value from the products they purchase. Many customers are left with a tactical point solution when they could have an integrated enterprise system with a little help and direction.

With my new role as a Chapter Leader in the Minnesota and Chicago Vivit groups, I would hope to facilitate an understanding of how clients can leverage more of the functionality in their individual HP solutions, as well as how their investments can work in concert with their other existing investments to provide impactful solutions to their business."

IDC and HP Webinar: Employee Adoption = Success with HP Software

Posted By Lucy Starr, Tuesday, September 3, 2013
Updated: Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Are you looking for relatively minor changes that will massively increase the chances of a software deployment succeeding? HP’s software education team is hosting a one-hour webinar with Cushing Anderson, one of IDC’s lead experts in software implementation success, to discuss these training related changes and other killer facts to help you put them into practice. We’ll talk you through the latest thinking in training strategies, methods and processes. The insight will help you cost-efficiently keep your team’s skill levels high so that once you’ve gone live, your software will deliver throughout its lifecycle.

The business case

Convincing business leaders and managers to release budget – and their people – for training can be a challenge. With this in mind we will:

  • Discuss training and project success: With reference to research among 512 IT managers, Cushing will underline why IT leaders believe that training has the greatest influence over project success.
  • Explain the link between budget and outcomes: With reference to additional in-depth research from IDC a clear link is made between comparatively minor adjustments to budget and project success.
  • Link capability and outcomes: We refer to discussions with project managers to reveal that minor improvements in users’ skills deliver remarkable benefits when it comes to project success.

The analysis will help you provide colleagues with compelling evidence about the need for training. With budgets remaining tight we’ll also explain how many HP customers are using new tools – such as HP ART – to cost efficiently prepare, share, and easily update documentation and engaging online training content.

Helping you deliver

We know that once you’ve deployed software and trained your teams, it can be a challenge to maintain performance excellence. Indeed, as people leave the business and the software evolves, the capability of the team can degrade. In fact, by year six, a company can retain only 24% of the capability it had at the launch of new software. Also, with new deployments we’re seeing ‘the business’ demand that to value is achieved faster. With these pressures in mind we discuss tactics, strategies and technical solutions to help you keep teams up to speed on existing systems and prepare them more quickly to use new software.

Our advice will cover the latest research into the most effective learning content to help you drive utmost value from your training budget, and, your software.

An experienced team

Cushing will be joined by:

  • Susan Merriman, Worldwide Lead of Emerging Technologies at HP Software Education
  • Malcolm Poulin, Director of Product Strategy at ANCILE Solutions

The presenting team has each worked in corporate education for their whole careers. With an open Q&A please bring your issues and experiences to the table – we’re expecting a lively discussion and there’s no doubt our presenters will be able to help you.

Webinar Date:

Wednesday, September 25, 2013
8:00 - 9:00 AM PDT (Los Angeles) ,11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (New York), 17:00 - 18:00 CEST (Frankfurt)

Who should attend?

CIOs, Project Directors, Project Managers, Project Stakeholders, Training Directors, Documentation Authors, End Users

Register for webinar.

Paul Edmunds - Recognized by Vivit for 20 Years of Service

Posted By Lisa Nordhoff, Wednesday, July 31, 2013
Updated: Thursday, July 18, 2013

As of July 31, 2013, Paul Edmunds, one of Vivit’s initial founders, announced his retirement from Duke Energy after 39 years of service. The current Board of Directors, staff and members of Vivit would like to congratulate Paul on his retirement and sincerely thank him for over 20 years of service to Vivit.

Paul has been instrumental in building Vivit into the successful organization it is today. In November of 1993, Paul helped to organize the first HP Software user group meeting in Dallas, Texas, which had over 450 attendees. Since that time, Paul has been dedicated to supporting the needs and interests of HP Software users everywhere, helping grow the Vivit community to over 15,000 members, through 74 local chapters, spanning 25 countries and 13 worldwide Special Interest Groups.

"When Open View Forum (initial name of Vivit) was started back in 1993, the organization had a very technical focus,” said Paul in a recent interview with Vivit staff. "It has been amazing to see how Vivit has expanded worldwide as the IT industry has changed over the last 20 years.”

Paul mentioned that when he started in this industry, the worldwide web wasn’t even in existence. He has really enjoyed seeing how the IT industry has evolved and how Vivit has really helped the software user community by educating users around the world. He feels the IT world will continue to evolve especially with the new strategic "game changers,” big data, cloud, mobility and security. He also mentioned that he felt he was able to be successful in the IT industry because he was able to embrace change and challenges, and had the opportunity to communicate with others in the industry through Vivit.

"Vivit is very important to the software user community,” Paul said. "Vivit is an ideal outlet for learning best practices using HP software, plus, it gives IT professionals the opportunity to network with others in the industry to learn what others are doing, what is working well or not working well, discuss the direction of the industry, and develop a network of peers on a local and worldwide level. The value Vivit brought to me over the years was instrumental for my career and I really encourage others in the industry to get involved.”

Paul also shared that the one thing he was looking forward to in retirement was "no schedules.” He is also looking forward to spending more time with his family, especially his grandchildren and plans to do some traveling, continue to be a fitness instructor and stay active with biking.

Vivit co-leaders Jim Copio and Mark Ford of the North Carolina Chapter recently presented Paul a plaque recognizing and honoring him for his years of service. A surprise luncheon was also held in his honor. Many attending the luncheon shared special memories of Paul’s accomplishments and talked about all the fun they have shared together. Vivit is very fortunate to have had the benefit of Paul’s leadership, expertise and friendship the past 20 years.

Congratulations and best wishes to Paul as he enters this new phase in his life.
