Many enterprise IT organizations are changing their mission from being a provider of IT services to being a broker of IT services. As part of this change, enterprises are deploying private cloud solutions to become more responsive to the business and drive down cost. Automation is a key pre-requisite to cloud, and automating operations today can lead to a smooth transition. Where to begin? Listen to this 3-step approach, starting with automating tasks, then IT processes, and eventually service delivery. Automate today for a smooth transition to cloud tomorrow.

What happens when a Support case become severe?

Posted By Helen Drew, Friday, November 23, 2012

Software Support Blog: Exceeding Expectations

Recently Aileen posted another informative article based upon an interview with Tony Simmons, analyzing Support in severe cases. Across this year we have all read many news stories about technical failures and have seen the impacts these can have on businesses. Tony highlights what makes a Support case severe and walks us through the steps taken to resolve these urgent business issues. Worth a read: Support in Severe cases: Part 1

In Part 2 of this series, Tony talks us through a day in his as a Critical Support Engineer. With over 24 years’ experience at HP alone, Tony shares what is it like to work with some of the largest, and most critical, accounts for Software Support. Here is a brief extract from the article that may interest you, ‘Whilst only about 10% of Support cases are Severity One, we know it is these which can have the biggest impact on our customer’s business and when they need us most. Certain industries, such as financial services and telecoms can face serious fines and brand name damage if they suffer outages so we have everything in place to respond as quickly as possible.’ This article is another great insight into the Support team’s work.

HP Business Service Management 9.2 delivers end-to-end visibility into IT services

Posted By Gordon Muschett, Friday, November 23, 2012

HP announces the latest version of HP BSM, which provides end-to-end visibility into IT service health, powered by meaningful intelligence and analytics, helping IT increase its operational efficiency and reduce down time.

BSM 9.2 introduces "Operational Analytics” (OpsAnalytics), which provides customers the right actionable intelligence to predict and prevent problems, and to analyze and search massive amounts of data to quickly identify and diagnose issues. It combines the power of Operations Manager i (OMi), with the universal log management capabilities of Logger to prevent or resolve any incident in IT environments.

OpsAnalytics provides automatic correlation and analysis of data including machine data, logs, events, topology and performance information. It enables customers to:

· Remediate known problems before they occur with predictive analytics;

· Proactively solve unknown issues by collecting, storing and analyzing everything;

· Resolve incidents faster with search capabilities

BSM further helps customers maximize IT investments:

· Gain 360 degree visibility by aggregating data from disparate sources like MS SCOM, Nagios and IBM Tivoli into a single dashboard;

· Resolve bottlenecks and improve performance of OpenStack and Python applications with performance diagnostics;

· Detect client side performance issues to improve availability of web and mobile applications.

HP also introduces HP Virtualization Performance Viewer (vPV), a triage tool for virtualization administrators to diagnose and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in virtualized environments. Customers can download the free version of vPV to use in production for immediate value today.

Attend the webinars to learn more about BSM 9.2!

See how the new Service Anywhere simplifies ITSM workflows

Posted By Phil Nguyen, HP Software Community Director, Friday, November 23, 2012

Making configuration changes to your IT Service Management (ITSM) solution has typically required someone with a programmer’s knowledge of JavaScript.

With the release of Service Anywhere—new SaaS version of HP ITSM—HP is introducing a way for administrators to use a graphic UI, making it easy to change data fields, forms and rule sets.

The improvements are most evident in how you can design and adjust workflows. Many enterprises’ IT service teams experience high rates turnover, which makes it important to clearly establish consistent processes for every ticket, from creation to closure. Service Anywhere uses workflow diagrams to easy-to-follow graphical representations of how each phase transitions to the other phases.

Find out more inside the HP Software IT Experts Community with our new visual guide, Codeless configuration: How HP Service Anywhere simplifies ITSM, which includes screen images and detailed explanations of how IT service teams can work with the tool.

And if you want to explore Service Anywhere for yourself, you can get access to the Share Trial versionto try out the administrative functions.
