Experiencing sleepless nights because you received an audit notice from Oracle? Or did last year’s stressful audit leave your organization paying millions in penalties? Oracle not only charges organizations $64,000 to simply perform an audit, they can also charge millions of dollars in penalty fees. Oracle licensing policies are very complex and it’s easy to fall out of compliance when running Oracle software in virtualized environments.

Make sure the $64,000 price tag doesn’t become a million dollar one. In this Web Event, we will help you figure out how to keep your next Oracle audit from breaking the bank.

Cloud Management lessons from the ‘80s

Posted By Collin Chau, Monday, July 22, 2013

Looking back into the 80’s …

For those of us old enough to remember the 1980s, we know it was a time of big hair, ridiculous fashion and a huge shift in technology. While the fashion of the past can be safely left behind, technology from that period can offer an important perspective on how our industry is evolving today.

Let me set the stage: At the dawn of the 80s, companies mostly relied on a single big hardware—mainframes. They would buy one giant machine and it would serve their needs. They had an IT staff but it was small and manageable. They had some very vanilla applications that did a defined job—no more, no less. In short, life was largely predictable for companies and their IT organizations.

HP Service Manager Process Designer now available for Help Desk

Posted By Chuck Darst, Monday, July 22, 2013

The HP Process Designer graphical tool simplifies the configuration and tailoring of HP Service Manager (and Service Anywhere) processes. For HP Service Manager, Process Designer has been available for change and knowledge management. This new content pack extends Process Designer coverage to the Service Manager Help Desk processes covering service desk interactions, incident management, and problem management.

More information including on the ITIL aligned workflows can be found in a recent HP blog, HP Service Manager (SM) Process Designer for Help Desk: Codeless Configuration is here! The content pack works with Service Manager 9.31 and our next, pending release. The content pack is available on HP Live Network (passport credentials are required and a support id required to download).

Codeless configuration of processes and tasks not only significantly simplifies initial implementation of service manager and the on-going process administration; it also greatly reduces future upgrade efforts by separating user edits from the HP provided code.

Other process and usability improvements are discussed in the blog post mentioned above. One more related reference source is a recent blog post on Process Designer for Change task enhancements that includes a short overview video.
