Announcing HP Service Anywhere – a new, native SaaS Service Desk

Posted By Chuck Darst, Tuesday, October 23, 2012

On October 22, HP announced Service Anywhere, our new SaaS Service Desk. Service Anywhere takes the process designer concept that was introduced in Service Manager 9.30 and extends it to all processes provided and also over to forms, tables, and business rules. The net result is a complete set of graphical codeless configuration tools that isolate user tailoring from the HP code which in turn enables seamless upgrades.

Other capabilities include a simplified web 2.0 user interface that includes social collaboration for agents or operators. A variety of native and webservice based integration capabilities are provided including with the HP UCMDB. HP Professional Services has a new HP Service Anywhere Foundation Service that provides a fixed price, quick start service.

To try HP Service Anywhere in a shared environment, we’re providing a "sandbox”. This goes live on November 16. You can get access to the sandbox and find more information online at www.hpserviceanywhere.com. Dedicated trial systems are available on-demand through HP sales and partners.

You can read the full press release. The latest news can typically be found on the HP ITSM blog or by following twitter.com/hpitsm.

We’ll be demonstrating HP Service Anywhere at a series of itSMF events world-wide this fall and at HP Discover in Frankfurt on December 4-6. And, there will be a Vivit webinar on December 12th.

Beta test new SaaS tool for tracking Agile development

Posted By Phil Nguyen, Tuesday, October 23, 2012

HP has launched the public beta for HP Agile Manager, a new SaaS offering that can help application development teams organize, plan, and execute Agile projects.

Tracking project status and progress across the various environments used in contemporary software development is a constant challenge—getting accurate and timely metrics is almost impossible. A wide assortment of tools and cumbersome manual processes are often required to pull together scraps of information.

That’s why Agile Manager has been designed to provide rich activity management and deep insights about the status of source code, builds, unit tests, coverage and more, all in an instant-on SaaS model.

A critical part of its analytics capabilities is how it aggregates source code and build management information from heterogeneous development environments and surfaces the meaningful data to provide team members and leaders with greater insight.

Find out more in the Guide to Build and Source Code Analytics in Agile Manager, which includes screen images and detailed explanations of how development teams can work with the tool.

Interested in getting your hands dirty? HP would love your feedback. Register here to join the beta trial.

 Leveraging Software-as-a-Service

As an IT professional, the movement toward Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) has certainly not escaped you. If you are like most, you have already explored or adopted a cloud-based software solution. After all, leading analysts indicate that SaaS is growing at a rate 6x faster than traditional on-premise software deployments. At HP, we too are seeing this increased interest in Software-as-a-Service, and are investing to expand the portfolio of offerings we deliver to you via HP SaaS.

Software-as-a-Service offers several advantages to IT. Among these are:

  • SaaS is an Operating , not Capital, Expense, increasing the budget available for strategic initiatives
  • Paying only for what you use reduces shelfware
  • Faster deployments means increased Time to Value

Further, only HP SaaS offers a broad portfolio of proven HP Software solutions, including ALM, BSM, PPM and ITSM, among others. More than a decade of best practices allows HP SaaS to offer these solutions with an uptime of 99.7% or higher, and HP SaaS Client Managers help assure high solution adoption.

HP SaaS can even be deployed as a service around existing perpetual on-premise HP Software licenses to help free up resources or increase utilization of the solution, further increasing the value of an existing implementation!

Look first to HP Software-as-a-Service if you are planning on exploring Software-as-a-Service as a strategic option in 2012. For the latest update on What's New in HP SaaS, watch this informative video from the floor of HP Discover!
