“Borsa Istanbul is using Operations Bridge to monitor service trees and events.” says Cagatay Avsar, Director of System Management, “The uCMDB product is used for Operations Bridge configuration items. We are also using SiteScope to monitor our production environment. RUM is used to intervene and catch the errors from the real user traffic. With BPM we identify the problem before the users see it.”

Configuration times at Borsa have been cut from one week to four hours and employee productivity has increased by 600%.

Operations Bridge automates monitoring, when a new resource is found, for example a database server, the appropriate monitoring template is applied, and monitoring is started. When the resource goes away, as happens often in cloud implementations, monitoring is stopped. An additional advantage of automated monitoring is that cloud servers that are idle are easy to detect – reducing cloud costs. This automated monitoring reduces the time previously used to manually set up monitoring – freeing up resources to do more strategic work.

In Borsa’s old environment the problem, as described in the monitoring system, could not be solved for one or two days. During this time Borsa was taking a very big risk. “With Micro Focus products our system operations are performed in microseconds.” said Avsar.
